Working Conditions:

All cases of chemical dependency are evaluated, including counseling and suggestions.

Responsibilities:

Review of the offender files to assess chemical dependency evaluation needs.
Responsible for conducting all necessary chemical dependency assessments on state, federal and direct referral residents and making recommendations regarding chemical dependency issues and referrals.
Providing group therapy on a weekly basis.
Conducting individual counseling as well as other classes relative to self-esteem, chemical dependency education, and all other components related to the ‘Design For Living’ treatment program.
Conducting all aftercare sessions averaging two (2) hours per week.
Making referrals to a variety of social services and medical resources.
Attendance at all staff and treatment team meetings.
Attendance at rating meetings with other staff members to assist in the ratings of offenders.
Documentation of all contracts, significant issues, and general progress in the offenders case file.
Investigating and compiling written reports concerning the alleged rule infractions by offenders.
Responsible for client follow-up.
Maintenance and reporting of monthly statistics in all parts of the CD assignments as well as responsibility for any grant reporting on a quarterly basis.
Responsible for informing the Programming Coordinator and/or Executive Director of significant developments related to START Facility. Such issues are to be reported expediently based on assessment of issue importance.
Demonstrates knowledge & responsibility in performance of duties as prescribed by facility procedures. Has an understanding of the addiction process. Has a strong belief in change.
Applies the appropriate practices in Intake, Discharge, Contractor Reports, Individual Sessions, Risk Assessment, Motivational Interviewing, and Social Learning Theory
Understands and applies EBP in daily duties (reinforces, post monitoring, social learning theory and cognitive behavioral therapy.)
Works well under pressure and maintains self-control.
Motivates and works well with residents.
Receptive to change and new ideas.
Is receptive to clinical supervision and demonstrates an ability to apply and master clinical supervision recommendations.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Programming Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Good written and oral communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work with contacts, the public, co-workers professionally and tactfully.
Professional and businesslike in appearance and demeanor.
Knowledge of computer word processing, hardware and software use skills.
Strong work ethic

Licenses/Experience:

BS in Human Services or related field and one year experience in Social Service field.
High school graduate with three years experience working with general human resource programs or two years experience working in a correctional setting
Demonstrated ability and experience coordinating and facilitating various types of group therapy
State certified Licensed Addictions Counselor or certifiable within one year
Valid State Driver’s license

Working Conditions and Hours:

Work areas are inside in a climate-controlled environment with the same background noise. Occasional local and statewide travel may be required.
The Licensed Addictions Counselor works five (5), eight (8)-hour shifts per week. The Licensed Addictions Counselor may be required to work any shift including day, afternoon or graveyard.
