Hobby Farm/Beef/Nurse/Milk Cow

Toffee is a versatile 4.5 year old Holstein/Simmental cross. We have had her since she was a day old.

We milked her the first laction for 14 months, going from milk sharing with hers and and an adopted calf to OAD. For her second lactation we added an extra calf and didn’t milk her until about 5 months in when we had her adopt a new calf. She is about nine months into the second lactation.

We normally don’t lock her head in when milking, we just make sure she has plenty of food in front of her. We hand milk her on both sides at the same time.

She has a very nice and high bag.

We had her ultrasound preg checked and she might be having twins, but the vet couldn’t tell for sure. She is due the beginning of July. Her last two calves sold for over $900 each at five months old.

Each of the three times she was AI’ed it took the first time.
