Floating duck blind

This is a home-made floating duck blind built based on a design my dad made in the early 1980s. The unique thing about these boats is the open foot wells (see photos).

Constructed of 2” thick insulating foam reinforced with a marine-grade plywood frame, sheathed in two layers of fiberglass fabric, the boat has enough buoyancy that the open foot wells don’t actually let all that much water in—imagine a stand-up paddle board with low walls (see photos)….

Final layer of gel coat was color-matched to Skagit Delta mud. Really.

The bottom has two skegs (fins) in front and in back to help it track while rowing it. The back skegs can receive a removable stainless axle and wheels to help with moving the boat around
