A full-time directional drill operator is presently needed by Simple Fiber to grow our business. This person is in charge of all tasks involved in and connected to the safe, effective, and economical operation of trenchers, conduit plows, and directional drills. Duties will also include repairing potholes, installing hand-holes, and pulling cable.

This position will be expected to take a lead role for all drilling, conduit installation, cable pulling, and other installation and network repair work as required
Other duties would be to perform general site preparation, including surveying existing utilities, and performing test pitting as required.
Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment
Must have experience operating trenchers, plows, backhoes, excavator, and skid steer
General Responsibilities

Confirm bore path with install foreman and drill operator (including walking the bore path);
Perform job site analysis (JSA) including completion of paperwork;
Ensure there are proper clearances to install the product per standards;
Record the depth of the tool head as required;
Ensure the drill head is in a good position at the exit pit to connect the product;
Oversee laborers and/or crew members work and monitor time usage.
Operates Horizontal Directional Drill for installation of underground power cable conduits;
Ensures safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities;
Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and use appropriate safety equipment
Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control;
Reads utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities;
Ensures all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site;
Level earth to final grade specifications;
Leads teams in the field effectively and efficiently
Mechanical Aptitude and Physical stamina – lifting, digging and working in all weather conditions
Qualifications

2+ years’ experience as a horizontal directional driller
2+ years’ experience operating various earth moving equipment
Previous experience and knowledge of underground utility installations
Must be dependable, trustworthy, and possess a positive and productive attitude
Experience as an electrician, or other related construction field is a plus.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
OSHA 10 or 30 preferred
